Ethical Hunting - My personal experience and opinion
Technology in bow hunting has far surpassed most hunters capabilities. Flat shooting bows capable of launching an arrow well past the 300 fps mark are the current rage. Still, few, and I do mean VERY few bow hunters have the skill to consistently make a clean kill more than 40 yards. I personally know some than can but far more who cannot. Hunting shows featuring "long range shooting" are much to blame for this idiocy. { a cameraman for one of these shows "quit" because he could not stomach the number of wounded and non-recovered animals that he witnessed in order to get ONE CLEAN LONG SHOT by the arrogant egotistical "hunter" he was filming } . I , like my father, am a hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman till the end. Part of hunting is getting close enough to make a clean and quick kill of the animal. Today's technology has attempted to take the hunt out of hunting. Be content to go home without a harvest if necessary. IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE SHOT - DON'T TAKE THE SHOT

In 2008 I guided Jeff Lee to this 340 class elk with a bow. Jeff made a great shot at 25yds and this bull was down less than 30yds from start to finish. This was a 7 day hunt and Jeff and I were able to fill his mule deer tag with a 175" buck ( a BIG 3x3 with kickers and a drop tine )in addition to a nice antelope buck.

The whitetail in this photo grossed 183 B&C non-typical . The hunter was Jackie Caudle ( bow hunters may recognize Jackie as a 3 time world champion 3 D archer ) with yours truly as the guide.
